Frédéric Feytons

Co-founder and CTO of Airplan

Frédéric Feytons is co-founder and CTO of Airplan. He leads the entire technical side of the platform, from software architecture to infrastructure, including automation, quality and scaling. His career combines entrepreneurship, technology consulting, software architecture and leading technical teams on projects in Belgium and abroad.

At Airplan, his role sits at the heart of the product. He designed the technical platform, building in data automation and the connection to official databases. This work maps directly onto what the product promises: retrieving plot and planning data automatically, then generating the documents needed for permit applications.

A technical profile focused on product and delivery

Frédéric Feytons is one of those people who can turn a complex problem into a robust solution that is easy to understand and use. His experience covers digital product design, building teams, technical governance, industrialisation and continuous process improvement. His common thread is not just technology for its own sake, but making it reliable, clear and useful for business teams.

This ability to connect technical vision with operational delivery runs through his whole career. As a senior technology consultant, he has worked notably for major groups such as L’Oréal, Orange and Rakuten, on governance, security, architecture and the structuring of complex application portfolios.

International experience in tech

With nearly two decades of experience in software, Frédéric has worked both in start-ups and in large organisations. His assignment at L’Oréal illustrates this well: he worked on the governance of the mobile application portfolio, compliance, security, process standardisation and collaboration with many teams at international level.

Before that, he also held technical leadership roles in the mobile world. From 2014, he was head of the technical department at Tapptic, a company then recognised as a major player in mobile apps in Belgium. Among other things, Tapptic developed 6play for Groupe M6, described as one of the most downloaded apps in France.

Airplan’s technical backbone

Airplan simplifies the preparation of planning permit applications by relying on automation, geodata and official sources. In this context, Frédéric Feytons’s role is central: he designs the technical framework that allows the platform to turn regulatory and map data into documents that architects can put to use.

His contribution goes beyond keeping a product “up and running”. It also means making the right architectural choices, ensuring the platform stays solid over time, managing technical debt intelligently and keeping standards of quality high. That is what allows Airplan to move fast without losing reliability.

A culture of quality and teaching

Beyond the technical side, Frédéric stands out for his ability to make technology topics accessible to non-technical people. This trait comes through as much in his consulting work as in his day-to-day work at Airplan, and it also explains why he is involved in training and knowledge sharing.

This dual skill set, technical depth on one side and clarity for teams on the other, is particularly valuable in a product start-up. It makes it possible to align development, vision, business priorities and real-world constraints, without turning technology into a black box.
